Kathmandu 24 July 2010: The awaiting voting since a month in the legislature parliament for the post of prime minister Friday evening proved to be another failure. PM Madav Kumar Nepal is the caretaker since 3 weeks.

Both the prime ministerial candidates - Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra Poudel - were far from winning majority.

Dahal secured 242 votes including 237 votes from his party. 114 votes were cast in opposition while 226 lawmakers were neutral  with the verdict of no vote. The five additional votes came from Rastriya Janamukti Party, Nepa Rastriya Party and Nepali Janata Dal.

Similarly, out of 599 the total 572 votes were cast, because 27 members were not present to cast the vote.  NC candidate Poudel bagged 124 votes, 114 from his party and 10 votes from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti Party.  Likewise, 228 votes were counted as 'no vote'.

The voting could not produce any results with the CPN (UML), four Madhesi parties and some fringe parties staying neutral.

Meanwhile the Business Advisory Committee of the legislature parliament has decided to hold the third re-election for the Prime Minister on August 02.

At the committee's meeting, Nepali Congress proposed to hold the run-off on August 7 while the Maoists wanted it after a couple of days.  Source said that very late in the evening the parties finally agreed to hold the voting on August 02.
