Kathmandu 24 July 2010: The awaiting voting
since a month in the legislature parliament for the post of prime minister
Friday evening proved to be another failure. PM Madav Kumar Nepal is the
caretaker since 3 weeks.
Both the prime ministerial candidates - Maoist
chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra
Poudel - were far from winning majority.
Dahal secured 242 votes including 237 votes from his
party. 114 votes were cast in opposition while 226 lawmakers were neutralwith the verdict of no vote. The five
additional votes came from Rastriya Janamukti Party, Nepa Rastriya Party and
Nepali Janata Dal.
Similarly, out of 599 the total 572 votes were cast,
because 27 members were not present to cast the vote. NC candidate Poudel bagged 124 votes, 114 from
his party and 10 votes from Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti
Party.Likewise, 228 votes were counted
as 'no vote'.
The voting could not produce any results with the
CPN (UML), four Madhesi parties and some fringe parties staying neutral.
Meanwhile the Business Advisory Committee of the
legislature parliament has decided to hold the third re-election for the Prime
Minister on August 02.
At the committee's meeting, Nepali Congress proposed
to hold the run-off on August 7 while the Maoists wanted it after a couple of
days. Source said that very late in the evening
the parties finally agreed to hold the voting on August 02.
